Verdict

Buy On The Red comes into this in fine fettle and is taken to defy another 7lb rise at the main expense of Snow Wolf and River Treat. The selection has sidestepped a possible tilt at the Balmoral Handicap to take in this easier option and, with regular rider Robert Miles taking the ride again, the son of Komaite gets the verdict to follow up earlier successes at Brighton and Newmarket. Milton Bradley's Snow Wolf lost no caste in defeat behind Simpsons Mount at Folkestone last time and remains open to improvement. He rates a bigger threat than Geoff Wragg's Warwick maiden winner River Treat, who may not appreciate the return to this trip. Kevin Ryan's Bridgewater Boys has been in good form but may now be in the grip of the handicapper, while topweight Bo McGinty has gone up 6lbs for his win under more testing conditions at Hamilton last time and may not be so effective back on faster ground today. Brian Meehan's Dolce Piccata and the Tim Easterby-trained Distant Times are others to consider but the vote goes to Buy On The Red, who is taken to resume winning ways.
