In depth

Verdict

Bosun Breese beat subsequent York winner Hazelrigg at Ayr in June but, along with his old rival, was well beaten at Ascot 10 days ago when behind both Fitz Flyer and Excel Bolt. Tax Free gets little respite from the handicapper but again ran well at Goodwood on Saturday, though Dandy Nicholls also runs BONNIE CHARLIE. The booking of Fran Berry for the six-year-old, lightly-raced this year, certainly catches the eye and he won't be far away if reproducing his run at Pontefract in the autumn. Newcastle winner Noodles Blue Boy seems sure to be thereabouts again and Sovereign Street has won her last two with a degree of comfort and deserves her chance in his higher grade. Solemn and Haajes could also figure if getting the run of the race.
