In depth

Verdict

Great Charm (a winner at Haydock at the weekend) is selected ahead of Wotashirtful and Maimoona, while Irish Pearl had useful form as a juvenile and is worth noting in the betting market. Maimoona was a bit disappointing on the All Weather last time and is better judged on her previous turf form. This does mark a step up in grade for her but she should not be underestimated. Wotashirtful has been in good form and, having won at this track last time out, has to merit consideration. However, he is now 6lb higher in the weights and has a bit more on his plate. Therefore, we just prefer the claims held by Great Charm, who has also taken a shine to Ripon¿s sprint course and, with the predicted cut in the ground likely to suit, the Michael Bell-trained gelding has solid claims in this company.
