In depth

Verdict

Teach To Preach gets the vote over Just Observing and Sir Arthur, with Manouche and Truly Fruitful best of the rest. This is an interesting handicap featuring quite a few improvers, not least Teach To Preach who showed that he had trained on when battling home in deteriorating conditions at Bath on his return in April. The Barry Hills-trained colt makes his handicap debut now and will be seen to better effect over today's longer trip. Just Observing had a tendency to find one too good last year and beat little when odds-on at Folkestone last month. No doubt there is more to come, but he is worth taking on. Sir Arthur produced a gutsy effort to last home in heavy ground here last time and looks the best of the Mark Johnston pair, while Manouche and Truly Fruitful have enough experience between them to vie for the frame. We return to Teach To Preach as the answer.
