        Verdict

        Empress Ali finished runner-up in two Newcastle maidens on soft ground last season and ran well for a long way on her reappearance over this trip there last month. She'll be winning soon but may have to play second fiddle again to EPSOM HILL. He changed hands after last season's debut and made a bright start for Charlie Fellowes behind two much better fancied rivals at Doncaster - tonight's longer trip looks certain to suit. Spiritoftheunion is the second foal of a mare who produced a winner with her first and Michael Bell's filly is the type to do better in her second season so could get into the frame. Oscuro may be best of the remainder as she appears to have been running over trips too short.
