Neon Blue is taken to prevail over Ayam Jantan, with Sedge and Pure Imagination others worth a mention. Promising apprentice Michael Stainton partners Neon Blue again here, having sat on him for the first time when the pair were just touched off at Ayr in July. Since then Dean McKeown has done the steering, the five-year-old coming out on top from subsequent dual-winner Bailieborough at York before finishing a close up third at Newcastle. The form of Richard Whitaker's gelding makes him the one to beat here, with conditions in his favour. Ayam Jantan beat another of today's rivals, Sedge, by half-a-length at Carlisle and they meet on virtually the same terms, although the latter now has blinkers applied for the first time. There should be little between the duo again, while of the rest Pure Imagination is likely to make a play for the places again despite his weight. However, we shall pin our hopes on Neon Blue.
