In depth

Verdict

Ulundi, Telemachus and Blue Spinnaker can all go well here, but preference is for Zero Tolerance. The selection has a good inside berth and runs over what appears to be his optimum trip. A soft ground winner over further at Haydock last time, he comes here freshened up after a further six week break and he can act on fast ground as well as with cut, so there are no worries on that score. Darryll Holland has been booked for a rare ride for David Barron and we should take the hint. Telemachus is drawn a fair bit wider in 10 and is weighted right up to his best for this race. A 10 furlong specialist who also goes on fast ground, he was well beaten at York last time and his mark may find him out again. Ulundi loves it like a road and has plummeted through the ranks, having contested Group 1 races only last season. Clearly, if he is anything like his best he would be a good thing here over a trip that suits, but he continues to disappoint and though we hope he can show us some form he is best watched until doing so. Blue Spinnaker steps up to 10 furlongs for only the second time. Fast ground also suits him and we expect a decent effort, but whether he will see out a truly run contest like this is open to question and he is also entered for the much more suitable Royal Hunt Cup at Royal Ascot, which is much more his trip. Therefore we are more than happy to side with Zero Tolerance to pick up this decent prize.
