Rose Acclaim, from a stable going well, showed some potential in maidens last season and begins her handicap career from a very lowly mark. Rosie Crowe was staying on nicely over 7f at Catterick last time so this trip will suit but the consistent Red Unico has had his last six races at Southwell. Boldbob didn't show much in Sir Lancelott's race at Newcastle though that form could get a boost earlier in the day but the vote in a very moderate heat goes to STAR ASCENDING. Les Eyre's charge showed a bit of promise for Brian Ellison last season and was probably unsuited by soft ground on his comeback at Nottingham.
