In depth

Verdict

Al Raahi can get recent losses back at the expense of Pires, with Karma Llarma and White Deer certainly not out of things. Al Raahi was sent off as favourite at Newmarket on his second visit to the racecourse, but after making much of the running, faded back to fourth behind Rallying Cry. A little more restraint is needed, but he continues to work well at home and is worth following. Stablemate Pires already has bags of experience in the context of this race, but his tendency to hang right at Catterick is worrying. Karma Llama shaped quite well when third at Ayr last time and hails from a stable that is ticking over nicely now, while White Deer will appreciate the step up in trip after being outpaced over six furlongs on his Carlisle debut. For the winner we return to Al Raahi.
