In depth

Verdict

Hiccups won a slowly run sprint at Doncaster three weeks and will be popular with punters but it could be wise to go for the in-form Paddywack who looks to be coming nicely to the boil. Decent efforts at York and Ripon in the past week look to have put David Chapman's gelding spot on for this valuable contest with a useful apprentice booked to push him home in the closing stages. Undeterred showed promise at his favourite track, York, last weekend and is respected but he is very hard to win with these days and needs things to fall right. Blackheath was unlucky to lose at York on Saturday and granted a clear passage this time should go close from a decent draw. Valuewise, however, it could pay to side with Paddywack who has run well in this race in the past.
