Verdict

Tout Seul has been put forward as a likely winner all week in the Racing press. He is clearly very smart but with his best performances on a much softer surface, he does not look one to be taking such a short price about. Richard Hannon arrives typically mobhanded for a big two year old race and Presto Vento looks the pick of his team. He was a length behind Sharplaw Venture at Ascot in the Watership Down Stakes but this shorter trip should suit. Somnus has been a credit to connections and the St Leger Yearling Stakes winner bids for another big prize. Today's task is much more difficult as he will have to give weight away to his principal market rivals. Monsieur Bond looked to be the genuine article when landing a Pontefract maiden and he confirmed his progression with a second in the Mill Reef Stakes. He is well drawn in stall eighteen and with the much improved Fergal Lynch in the plate, he is tipped to land the prize for the North. Sarayat was unfortunate to run up against the useful Ego at Doncaster last time out. Any reproduction of that effort looks certain to put him in the shake-up here.
