Verdict

Tajweed seems to have got his act together and Mark Johnston's gelding gets the vote ahead of stablemate Casa Catalina and Collection. The selection comes here on the back of a comprehensive success, when he battled on well to score by four lengths. All he does is gallop so he should be at home on this long straight and also over this longer trip and with further improvement to come, he may be the one in what looks an open contest. Stablemate Casa Catalina found a valuable sales race at the Curragh too much at the end of last year, and is better rated on his Thirsk win prior to that run. He steps up in trip today which looks a fair move, but he is not guaranteed to stay. Collection should be all the better for a recent pipe-opener, and he was well-fancied on that day so a big run could be on the cards today. Laterly beat a poor field in fair style last time, but a mark of 80 looks high enough. Full Speed drops in trip having seemingly failed to stay last time out, however it is Tajweed who receives the vote.
