    Verdict

A modest maiden in which Alhajees is preferred to Lucidus and Final Esteem. Certainties rarely have four legs but it would take something out of the ordinary for Alhajees to be beaten here. Rated 97 after his third in the Chester Vase, he was subsequently turned over at odds-on at Sandown and with weaker opposition obtained here, that unfortunate outcome should not be repeated. Lucidus was well beaten on debut at Nottingham and the betting did not suggest that the four-year-old was anything out of the ordinary. Final Esteem showed improved form on his second racecourse start but as he finished behind horses rated in the 70's - more improvement is required. Tagart is related to a number of sprinters while Birbalini and Star Sign make little appeal. Alhajees looks the one to be on and the bookies are unlikely to be offering particularly generous odds under the circumstances.
