    Verdict

It wouldn't be Pontefract without a low grade cavalry charge to round off proceedings and LA CAPRIOSA rates as a token selection with Hotham, Miss Daawe and Select Committee respected. The filly seems to thrive on her racing and with Jeremy Glover enjoying his tenure as the salaried trainer to Paul Dixon, this filly may be well drawn enough to take a hand in what is a modest contest. Hotham represents a yard very much in form. The handicapper has played his part in dropping him down from marks in the mid 80's. Miss Daawe showed signs of a return to form on her most recent start and would be a player if the rain stays away. Select Committee has been done few favours by the draw though consistency appearss to be his strong suit. Yungaburra is 0 from 24 on the turf though is rated almost two stones lower on it than on artificial surfaces. Comptonspirit makes a long journey from Staffordshire and is watched in the market. Darcy's Pride appeared to show improved form for the application of a tonguetie and having won off this mark previously, it would be no surprise to see him run well. The locally trained Monte Cassino seems best of the rest. Plenty of plausible winners and without reference to the market, La Capriosa gets the vote.
