Verdict

A testing introduction to racing faces the nine, as yet, unraced fillies but as neither Verstone or Gaudalpin have really set the world alight, it is feasible to assume that this could go to one of the debutantes. Therefore, a chance is taken with Mizz Tee, who as a daughter of Prix Morney winner Orpen, should handle the ease in the ground and should be forward enough to cope with the task in hand today. Rockburst is another that appeals on pedigree and should be monitored for signs of support as her yard has already struck with a two-year-old winner at this course this season. While Alta Petens is also respected but is likely to need further than this in time. Mary Read is also worth keeping tabs on as she has some of the big sales races as her targets later in the season and she will need to show something early so her connections can structure her campaign to suit. The same has to be said of Mizz Tee though, as a visit to the Doncaster sales is also the long-term plan for her. The only negative is her stable have been struggling with their younger horses so far this term but, as that has to change at some point in the coming weeks, this 15,000gns purchase could be the value call today. Gaudalpin is the best of those with experience but is obviously nothing special and may be seen to better effect in handicaps later on.
