Verdict

Splendid Light showed promise on his debut at Newmarket in the autumn and duly got off the mark over 1m3f on his reappearance at Kempton. There should be more to come from the grey but he's thrown in at the deep end on his handicap bow and doesn't look particularly well treated. Suits Me won over C&D in July last year and is fit from the all-weather. The nine-year-old is 9lb higher now, however, while Beaumont's Party is still paying the price for last year's efforts and didn't cut much ice over hurdles over the winter. This may be too short for Deauville Flyer but Kinryas won on his reappearance last year and Las Vergas Star had Mirrored and NORTHSIDE PRINCE behind second to Scrapper Smith at Ayr in September. Alan Swinbank's charge enjoys a slight turnaround at the weights today and, as he likes it here, is fancied to reverse the form and come out on top overall in a competitive-looking handicap for the time of year.
