Verdict

Extra Cover looks the best of this moderate bunch and can beat Ask The Clerk and Marysienka. Roger Charlton's gelding was a beaten odds-on favourite on his two previous starts, before making no mistake when breaking his duck at Southwell last month. He travelled well on that switchback to quicken away for an easy win.He struggled off a mark of 75 in handicap company at the same track next time, but back on the turf today he should close in this modest contest. Ask The Clerk rarely runs a bad race, his recent third to Tony The Tap was a decent effort, and on official ratings he must be in with a very good chance. Marysienka put up no sort of performance on soft ground at Doncaster last time, but will be seen to much better effect on today's ground. Flying Bantam may prove best of the remainder, but Roger Charlton appears to have found a good opportunity for Extra Cover, and this one gets our vote.
