In depth

Verdict

Ed Dunlop's Kahfre could be of interest stepping up in distance for his handicap debut and wearing blinkers for the first time but a better bet may be RUBI DIA, who is likely to be better suited by the underfoot conditions today than on his reappearance in the mud and he gets the vote ahead of Lady Willa. The Barry Hills-trained filly was not disgraced in a Kempton maiden on her reappearance and she may do better now stepped up in trip. Brave Enough has shown some ability but does not look to be particularly well treated first time in a handicap, while Mark Usher's Spice Fair stepped up from his reappearance effort when a good third over course and distance recently but he has gone up 1lb since that run. John Akehurst's Pascalina probably needs to improve to trouble the judge, while Until The Man is far from certain to stay this far and preference is for Rubi Dia. Mark Johnston's colt won well on his debut at Southwell and was probably unsuited by the testing ground here on his only subsequent start earlier this month so he looks worth chancing on the ground today over a trip that should bring about improvement.
