In depth

Verdict

Mighty Dancer is bound to be popular with backers as he is fit from the all-weather and in reasonable form but is creeping up in the weights and may not represent much in the way of value so a chance is taken with Persian Conqueror, who gets the vote ahead of Alwariah. The last mentioned is stepped up in trip having never raced beyond seven furlongs before and Clive Brittain's colt has to be of interest but is not certain to stay so may be best watched. Xpres Boy has given little sign of encouragement in his last two starts on sand, while Raise The Heights finished close up at Lingfield last time but the form of that race does not look too good. Great Composer could be of interest first time in a handicap but Amanda Perrett's yard has made a slow start, while Hits Only Life disappointed when quietly fancied at Yarmouth last time and may not be that reliable. A chance then is taken with John Dunlop's Persian Conqueror, who is handicapped on form over inadequate trips and could be of interest on a plater's mark now that he tackles a more suitable distance.
