In depth

Verdict

We will shortlist Stainley, Rebellious Spirit, Pleasing and Makai and stick with Rebellious Spirit. Flying Clarets came good last time but the juice in the going will test him today, and Stainley might improve past him from that race anyway. Rebellious Spirit is consistent and, with his best previous run having come over course and distance over similar conditions, must be considered. Bold Cross has shown enough in the way of promise to be considered, while Follow The Colours gets a similar mention. Diamond de Triano's best previous effort came on heavy, so he gets a maybe, while Pleasing got into the winning groove last time and has to be given some thought. First-time blinkers means that John Dunlop's second runner, Makai, cannot be discounted, while Star Jasmine is another to have shown enough to get some thought. Once again, it is an interesting and competitive affair, but for the selection we will stick with Rebellious Spirit.
