In depth

Verdict

This is certainly the easiest task Wavertree Girl has faced to date, but she hasn't fared well in the draw and is reluctantly passed over, while Dark Day Blues is virtually a winner without a penalty, but a chance is taken with Bright Sun to confirm the promise shown in his two maidens run at Newmarket. There have been winners to come out of both of those maidens, so the form is reasonably sound and with the added bonus of a high draw and Darryll Holland, he is taken to see off Wavertree Girl. Nick Littmoden's filly has done nothing wrong and the form of her debut has already been franked with both the fourth and fifth having scored since. With the benefit of that outing under her belt, she stepped up considerably on that effort when filling 4th spot in the Group 3 Princess Margaret Stakes. She will be hard to beat. Elsinora has shown enough to suggest she can win a little race, but she will have to wait a while longer, while the best of Richard Hannon's pair may prove to be Dark Day Blues, who was only just touched off at Haydock. However, this is a much tougher race than that. Gatwick faces a tough introduction and will have to be above average to make an impact, so this looks sure to be fought out by Wavertree Girl and Bright Sun, with the latter getting the vote as he is more favourably drawn.
