Verdict

MT KINTYRE showed good battling qualities at Pontefract last week and, with that seasonal debut sure to have opened up the tubes, the Mark Thomkins-trained colt is taken as the one to side with here. Henry Cecil has always maintained a good strike-rate with his juveniles at Nottingham, so it will be worth keeping tabs on At A Great Rate, who is a nicely bred type that represents powerful connections. He is bred to come into his own this year, so this looks an apt starting point for the campaign ahead. Bagber has the benefit of experience and can find a race before too long, while Emeralda is an interesting newcomer to bear in mind for future reference. However, everything appears to be in place for Mt Kintyre and he is taken to justify any support placed in him this afternoon.
