In depth

Verdict

Harry Stock has proved a fine man to follow in amateur rider events of late and the youngster can boot home SACRED SQUARE in the finale. The former William Haggas inmate was a ready winner at Brighton last week, and on the face of it, a mandatory 6lb penalty should not be enough to prevent a repeat. Zarosa seemed to go well for a lady amateur at Carlisle and it could be significant that John Berry has elected to book Katie Margarson on this occasion. Taste The Wine is a previous course and distance winner and were the ground to remain on the softer side, Bernard Llewellyn's gelding would be a major player. Frosty Berry is far from the most prolific of winners though she has at least the benefit of being regularly partnered by this afternoon's rider, while Scribe raced far too freely last time and that disappointing effort can be safely overlooked.
