In depth

Verdict

The closing-handicap is wide open but we will side with Glenbuck; European Dream, Lenoir and Cantabilly are those also worth noting. Glenbuck was hammered by the handicapper following an easy win at Catterick last November. He went up 15lbs for that win but still got to within two lengths of Mambo Sun in a Southwell nursery on his final run of the season. He ran a pleasing race on his comeback last month when fourth in a Southwell handicap and that run, following a break should put him spot-on for this. Cantabilly represents the in-form Mick Channon yard but he looks ridiculously high in the weights when you consider what he has achieved. European Dream is of more interest and could give our selection the most to do. He won a decent Newcastle maiden last season and ran well in nurseries. He looks well-treated and potentially unexposed and is a big danger. Of the others, Lenoir will be fit having contested a number of all-weather handicaps already this year but he is another who looks a bit too high in the weights and we will stick with our original choice Glenbuck.
