Verdict
If choosing potential over experience then Rubi Dia is the one for you. However, PRIMO DE VIDA is also interesting on his handicap debut and, as he has already shown he is capable of more improvement, the Ralph Beckett-trained gelding edges the vote for the main play on this occasion. Tell Halaf is another on an upwards curve and, as the stable scored with a similar type at Yarmouth on Monday, it's safe to assume Michael Bell has his string in good order. It's also notable that Jamie Spencer has ridden more winners for the yard than anyone else over the last five seasons, so everything looks in place for a bold effort today. Rubi Dia got the better of more knowledgeable rivals when scooting up in a Southwell maiden in February. Today's step up in trip shouldn't be an issue and it would hardly be a bolt from the blue if the Mark Johnston-trained colt bolted in here. However, Primo De Vida has very little to find to get competitive and, as he has plenty of scope from a mark of just 68, the son of Fair Trade is the one taken to exploit any weakness shown by the Johnston horse.
