In depth

Verdict

Not the most competitive of handicaps and the solid choice here has to be Ambrosiano, Anatolian Prince and Bollin Fergus look the best alternatives. Emma Lavelle trained the selection last season and he showed plenty of promise. However he appears to have improved over the winter and made a successful debut for his new stable when a comfortable winner at Lingfield last month. If the improvement is carried over to the turf he should prove hard to beat in this very modest event. Anatolian Prince and Bollin Fergus have very similar claims. Both have shown modest ability in maidens and and get into the handicap on very low marks. It would be no surprise to see one or both involved in the finish. Nota Liberata has earned top-weight with some consistent efforts and may do best of the rest, but Ambrosiano has the best recent form and he gets the confident vote.
