Verdict

SMART STEP looks to have an excellent chance of landing her hat-trick. All three of this year's wins have been in soft ground and, despite having a 6lb rise to contend with here, Mark Johnston's filly can come out best once again with conditions to suit. Barista will also handle the going but he's yet to win over further than 7f, while the same comment also applies to Carlisle winner Watts Up Son. Blue Maisey's best form has come on a fast surface, including her win at Windsor in July, and Sky Diamond saves his best for the Polytrack nowadays.
