In depth

Verdict

VALBUENA was in the process of running a decent race when stumbling and unseating his rider at Worcester last time out and is taken to redeem himself to land this bumper at the expense of Tollishill and Iron Steve. Whether the selection would have won or not on his debut is questionable, however he was making good headway as he entered the home straight before he stumbled and unshipped his rider. He has now got race experience behind him and with luck in running this time around he ought to go close. Tollishill finished fifth of twelve on his debut at Hereford in April. He was well beaten that day but will have come on for the run. Tony McCoy has been booked to ride which is a positive note so he warrants respect. Iron Steve swerved badly left and then right before unseating his rider on his debut at Southwell. He was well beaten at the time but he does come from top stable that do well in this sphere, however, for the winner we return to Valbuena.
