Verdict

Prince Of Johanne won this last year at odds of 40/1 and beat Excellent Guest and recent Ascot winner Don't Call Me in the Royal Hunt Cup in June. He's 15lb worse off with Stevie Thunder, runner-up 12 months ago, however and looks to be in the handicapper's grip now. Mijhaar has been threatening to win one of these big handicaps for a while and is worth a second look but 2010 winner Credit Swap hasn't had a run this season. Hughie Morrision, responsible for 2009 victor Supaseus, has a likely sort in Chil The Kite. Partnered by champion-elect Richard Hughes, the colt never really got involved when fourth in a Listed race at Haydock last time but had won both previous starts at Doncaster and Ascot. A low draw could be a problem, however, and Boom And Bust, King's Warrior and Mull Of Killough are also passed over starting from a single-figure berth. Mukhadram may prove the best of the other three-year-olds but was beaten off this mark here last time, while Start Right could be the pick of the Godolphin trio, despite jockey bookings suggesting otherwise. Anderiego was a good second at Doncaster two weeks ago but it could be worth having a small each-way wager on TALK ABOUT. There is no way to tie in the form of Mikel Delzangles' raider against his British counterparts but the fact that he's been thereabouts at Chantilly, Longchamp and Deauville since winning at Saint Cloud in the spring suggests he's no mug and the fact that he stays further than this is a factor in his favour. Probably fairly treated off a mark of 92, he gets a tentative vote to cause an upset.
