In depth

Verdict

Wild Pitch is 4lbs higher than when getting up close home at Kempton earlier this month but is still well treated back on turf so is taken to follow up at the main expense of Secretary General and Authority. The last mentioned has the assistance of leading amateur Simon Walker so has to be respected but lack of a recent run has to be of concern. Let Slip is better than his latest effort would suggest but he would not want the ground to dry out any further, while Top Spec could probably do with some help from the handicapper. Newbury winner Prime Powered may struggle to follow up under his 5lb penalty and makes less appeal than Secretary General, who took advantage of a favourable mark when winning at Folkestone last time and remains on a fair mark. Wild Pitch is similarly well treated though and he is marginally preferred.
