Verdict

Munsef disappointed when favourite for this race last year and may have to settle for a minor role behind Eastern Anthem and Tempelstern this year. The Saeed Bin Suroor runner failed to run his race when stepped up to a mile six on heavy ground in a York handicap but these conditions should be to his liking. He had run a blinder on the Sussex Downs to go down by a head to Peppertree Lane prior to that and can record a second career success here. He has a couple of pounds to find with Tempelstern on official ratings and Henry Cecil's colt should appreciate the easier company having been kept to Group 3 level so far this season but may just find this on the short side, particularly if the race is slowly run. Three of Munsef's four career wins came in 2005 and he is not an easy ride these days; that said, he's a useful sort who ran close to his best at Ascot last time. Heron Bay will need a career best to win this and is coming back from a break and it's not hard to look elsewhere and we'll avert our gaze to Eastern Anthem.
