Verdict

This maiden looks likely to be dominated by three horses, STEP IN TIME, Running Mate and Tiradito who come up against some untested debutants and it is the first mentioned who gets the verdict. The selection comes from the in-form yard of Mark Johnston and he made a pleasing debut at Haydock last time. The colt is a 50,000 euros son of Giant's Causeway. He will have learned from his last outing and winning this standard maiden should prove a formality. Running Mate was well backed to make a winning debut last time and he showed plenty of speed and did indeed have his chance. He finished fourth which was a little disappointing, but if he runs a similar race here then the John Gosden trained colt is capable of making the frame. Tiradito looks best of the rest. The two-year-old was a well-beaten second on his debut at Yarmouth and finished outside the minors last time out. He showed good early speed, but stamina failed him. He has his chance here but a place among the minors looks likely. A market check is advised for the rest so for our winner we can look no further than Step In Time.
