In depth

Verdict

Kings Event, Persian Express and South Cape are the shortlisted trio here, and Kings Event is the selection. After losing his maiden tag at Windsor after a couple of promising efforts in defeat, Kings Event looks the type to show further progress. He outstayed his rivals at Windsor, but this track looks set to suit him. After a successful time on the all-weather in the winter, Persian Express turned in some modest efforts in tough handicaps before benefitting from a drop in class last time. He is respected but may lack the scope of some others. South Cape is a game performer with two of his recent wins coming by the minimum margin. He is only four pounds higher but that may be enough to stop him here. Kings Event looks a progressive type and provided there is enough pace in the race, he can rule over his rivals.
