      Verdict

Carniolan looks a very well-handicapped sort under his mandatory 6lb penalty which should prove no hindrance to Walter Swinburn's charge who bids for a quick follow-up after last Friday's Ascot victory. With very smart maiden form in the book prior to last weeks victory, Carniolan looked a potential handicap snip off 80, added to the fact that his conqueror on his penultimate start Main Aim landed a competitive Sandown handicap off 85 afterwards. He did show a tendency to hang in the closing stages at Ascot but that could having being owing to the fact he was left in front a long way out and the open nature of the track. This bigger field will suit. Danish Art made a winning handicap debut last month over six furlongs after three promising maiden outings. The extra furlong should suit here. The exposed San Jose City has claims but could well be vulnerable against lesser exposed sorts while Choiseau is another tackling seven furlongs for the first time but the form of his Yarmouth victory has been left down on more than one occasion. Blue Sky Basin could well emerge as the biggest threat to the selection. The form of his Newbury victory received a boost at the July festival when the second Just Like A Woman put in a good performance when finishing runner-up in a hot handicap and he beat that filly decisively. It is not surprising that connections have dropped Naval Review back in trip after he failed to stay a mile on his last two starts. Carniolan is a confident selection to land this.
