Verdict

LORD OF THE STARS represents a yard that is stepping things up a couple of notches with their younger horses at present, so the Ralph Beckett-trained colt is only a speculative selection ahead of Peace And Calm, Muzdahi and Marked Card. The last named has a likeable pedigree and, given the owner's spirited attitude to punting, this son of Kheleyf is one to seriously monitor in the betting. Muzdahi is a half-brother to Saafia and Rafaan, who were both effective over seven furlongs as two-year-olds. John Dunlop is noted for his patience with this type of runner, so he might be a work in progress for the time being. Mahmood Al Zarooni is yet to firmly establish his field of speciality but already holds encouraging statistics with the Godolphin-owned juveniles sent out under his banner. Given his illustrious owners influence on the breeding markets, Peace And Calm may not have the most spectacular pedigree the boys in blue will ever send to the racecourse. Bred ostensibly for the dirt, this son of Forest Wildcat is introduced at a realistic level and, winning being the name of the game; it's very feasible this fellow will be placed to good effect before too long. However, Lord of The Stars would appear to be better suited to sprint distances and, with several of his stablemates catching the eye in similar races, this fellow can represent good value to gain some just reward for perseverance.
