In depth

Verdict

A strong international line-up here but there's no getting away from the chance of THAWAANY (NAP). Freddy Head's very progressive filly loves soft ground and landed a Group 3 at Deauville in June before her best run yet when chasing home Garswood on the same track in the Group 1 Prix Maurice De Gheest. She had last year's winner of this, Fiesolana, a length behind and today's German raider Amarillo was a two-length runner-up to Willie McCreery's mare in this a year ago. Despite winning eight times in France, Mogadishio looks a bit outclassed but there is plenty of depth to the home challenge. The very consistent Breton Rock showed that he is still on the upgrade when defeating the classy Gregorian in the Hungerford Stakes and he'll love the going as will the filly Al Thakhira, whose three victories to date have come on soft ground. Muteela made all for a convincing victory over Tawhid at Redcar and won't go down without a battle.
