Verdict

Favourites have an outstanding record in this race and so if the betting forecast is correct then On Our Way must be on short lists, but MASTERY stood out at Nottingham last week and he gets the vote to follow up. Mark Johnston's two-year-olds are not usually red hot first time, which suggests that there is a fiar bit more to come from the Sulamani colt, who scored impressively on soft ground over this trip. The time of the race was good given the conditions, and pedigree suggests that he will be at least as good on a sound surface so we'll side with him. On Our Way is a Group 2 horse, so that is clearly a fairly hefty task for the selection to take on. Henry Cecil's colt was not disgraced in the Royal Lodge last time and has produced four good racecourse runs to date. Rated 103, he is clearly very much respected. The same goes for 100-rated Cruikadyke, who has both speed and stamina in the pedigree and tries this trip for the first time. He was thereabouts in the Goffs Million last time and can go well again here. RA Junior is another progressive type and the form of his last run is working out well enough to suggest that he can once again get involved. Midnight Cruiser would be better if the rains came and preference here is for Mastery.
