Per Incanto is the tentative suggestion in a wide open Listed race in which Prime Defender and Balthazar's Gift must also take a prominent place on the short-list. The selection has something to find on the form that he showed in two starts for this yard last season but he had looked a useful sprinter when winning his last four starts in Italy. Some horses need a bit of time to acclimatise, his owner has an excellent record with his acquisitions, his yard is in form, he looks well drawn and we may see a different horse this season. Prime Defender shaped well from a low draw when fourth behind Aahayson and Sonny Red at Doncaster and there's little to choose between the trio on that evidence. Assertive finished second on his seasonal reappearance in last year's renewal and should make another bold bid whilst Balthazar's Gift has claims if getting the breaks. A number of these are only separated by a few pounds on official ratings and luck in running could play a big part in proceedings. We'll take a chance with Per Incanto.
