In depth

Verdict

It was no surprise to see WINTER THUNDER suffer a 16lb hike in the weights after finishing a street clear of his rivals in similar company over 1m2f here last month. The Godolphin colt can land this on his way to taking up an engagement in the St Leger. Renew has been competing in pattern races this season but remains 7lb higher than when third in a handicap last year while the once high-class Wigmore Hall continues to struggle at this level. Salutation has a shout on his earlier second to Arab Spring at Ascot but this is much tougher than the race won by Gone Dutch at Kempton last time.
