Verdict

Jack Junior gets the nod here ahead of Sugar Ray and Spring City. Jack Junior is a high-class maiden and was not disgraced in the St James's Palace Stakes last time despite finishing seventh of the eight runners. He had earlier finished second in the UAE Derby and, quite clearly, is a major player today. A 170,000 dollars son of Danehill, Denbera Dancer showed some promise on his debut but will have to improve on the bare form of that effort if he is to feature today. A 290,000 guineas son of Danehill, the Sir Michael Stoute-trained Sugar Ray showed promise on his Newbury debut and is one to consider today. As is the Saeed Bin Suroor-trained Spring City, who was a very good second to Black Rock at Sandown last time. The beautifully-bred Insiyaabi showed enough on his debut at this track to be of some interest today, while Silver Suitor, who is a 52,000 guineas son of Swain, will have to show improved form from his two runs if he is to feature today. Finally, Urban Spirit has shown enough to be considered for a place, although he has not quite built on the promise of his debut run last September on the Rowley Mile. Once again, then, for the selection, we will stick with Jack Junior.
