    Verdict

A good race in spite of the small field and on the evidence of his Royal Ascot run ELZAAM will be very hard to peg back here, with Approve, Neebras and Libranno all having claims. The last-named is trained by Richard Hannon, whose Strong Suit just lowered the colours of our pick at the Blue Riband meeting last month. He will therefore have the best idea as to how Libranno might shape up here, and there should clearly be a fair bit more to come from the colt, who won over this trip on the Rowley Course in May. Neebras is one of a pair of Mahmood Al Zaroony representatives in the contest and impressed when the easy winner of a Goodwood maiden over this trip last month. He has also gone close to Strong Suit prior to that outing and he looks a serious threat having shown improvement since. Stablemate Marston Moor cost Godolphin $375,000 and is related to Group 3 and Listed winners over a mile. This looks an ideal start in terms of trip, and he has clearly been showing plenty at home to be starting at this exhalted level. Norfolk Stakes winner Approve will find this tougher under a penalty and now back up in trip and Elzaam is the one they all have to beat.
