Verdict

Jewel In The Sand can add the Cherry Hinton to her Royal Ascot success, with Salsa Brave, Chivaree and Satin Kiss perhaps having enough scope to give her a race. Jewel In The Sand had five of today's opponents in arrears when winning the Listed Albany Stakes at the Royal meeting, with Salsa Brave nearest, two and a half lengths away in third. Richard Hannon's filly should uphold that form on this step up to Group 2 company, but faces a stiff task nevertheless. Godolphin are double-handed with Masa who was ninth at Ascot, and Satin Kiss, winner of a Leicester maiden and obviously thought highly enough of to be pitched in here. Mick Channon does not run them in Group company unless they are expected to be placed at least, so it is interesting that he lets Hamilton maiden winner Shivaree join Arabian Dancer in the line-up. The latter was well held by the selection at the Royal meeting and may fare less well than her stablemate. Northern raider Miss Meggy won the Hilary Needler Trophy at Beverley last month and tries six furlongs for the first time after finishing ninth to Damson in the Queen Mary. Polly Alexander is a tough sort and will not go down without a fight either, and as Mark Johnston sent out Attraction to land the spoils 12 months ago, we have to give a mention to Nufoos who met all the trouble going when eventually finishing 11th behind the selection 18 days ago. She is a lot better than the bare form indicates and should get closer now, but not close enough to stop Jewel In The Sand from completing a hat-trick.
