Verdict

MR GOSSIP is a speculative selection against likely market leaders, Gala Casino Star and Grazeon Gold Blend. The four-year-old was not knocked about on debut at Carlisle in a bumper at the course earlier this month and with the decision to go over timber made so early, there could be a good reason to do so and with Ollie Greenall riding for his father, there is every reason to believe that there will be maximum assistance from the saddle. Gala Casino Star rated in the high 80's on the flat and he placed with astonishing regularity in that game. He has had a very hard season in that sphere with no fewer than twelve visits to the races since April. Grazeon Gold Blend was a consistent enough horse in Northern sprints. If he stays the trip, he is interesting though we won't know that until the race begins. King In Waiting brings a level of form into the equation. He can be anticipated to run a fair race without perhaps being good enough. Donny Briggs is a half-brother to Patronage. He made all to win a soft ground bumper at Newcastle last December though was below par in a subsequent Doncaster event where the form has not worked out so well. Kiss Me Hardy is a half-sister to Little Bob. That said, he needs to have improved significantly upon his first hurdling effort. Ballymacduff has gone well for Jan Faltejsek in the past and any money for George Charlton's runner would be worthy of note. Beauchamp was fifth in what could turn out to be a decent bumper by Kelso's standards and may be better once stepped up in trip. Avanos has place claims on the basis of his second in a Sedgefield bumper last year. Mr Gossip is awarded our nomination.
