In depth

Verdict

Babieca showed plenty of promise on his Thirsk debut earlier this month but may not represent much in the way of value on only his second start so preference is for Fongs Gazelle, who gets the vote ahead of Intersky Sports. The last mentioned has failed to progress from a promising start on the all-weather but Kevin Ryan's gelding may do better now that he tackles seven furlongs for the first time. Ishetoo has shown signs of ability in both starts so far but needs to improve to trouble the selection, while Smugglers Bay is entitled to come on a bundle for his racecourse debut but would need to. Desert Maze was well held by a Karl Burke hotpot on his debut in a four runner race and a safer bet looks to be Mark Johnston's Fongs Gazelle, who has shown promise in all three starts so far and should improve for today's longer trip and faster ground.
