Verdict

Another terrific renewal of this valuable stayers' handicap and several of these are old rivals. Ardlui was always prominent when just holding on at Ripon in April and he had Party Line, Good Morning Star, Moidore and Crackentorp behind. Moidore has since run a cracker behind subsequent Ascot Stakes winner Well Sharp at York, however, and that run gives him the beating of Mashaari. Ile De Re can race off the same mark as when successful 12 months ago as he hasn't scored since but he has plenty to find with a few of these on their run together in the Chester Cup, where Address Unknown stayed on gamely to beat Ingleby Spirit by half-a-length. TOMINATOR, who won this in 2011, was only a head away in third and has every chance of turning the tables on the first two as he made up a lot of late ground that day having got hampered at the start. Ascot Gold Cup runner-up Simeon was fourth at Chester so the form is rock-solid and Jonjo O'Neill can add another big Flat race to his portfolio. Sun Central is worth another try at this trip after finishing second at Haydock but is at his best on quicker ground while penalised York victor Montaser will do well to get across from his wide draw before the first turn. Lieutenant Miller and Mubaraza, third and fourth in the Ascot Stakes, have place claims again while the improving Arch Villain may be best of the rest, though is another with a high draw to overcome.
