    Verdict

The usual suspects on view and from a shortlist that includes Rotuma, Desert Hawk, Red Chairman and Thornaby Green, we stick with the first named. The selection is not the easiest to catch right but Michael Dods has booked a fair apprentice this afternoon and with past form over course and distance, Rotuma makes plenty of appeal. Desert Hawk is invariably backed for contests of this nature and seldom delivers. He was favourite for a similar race at Yarmouth earlier this week and was held. Red Chairman is sure to try and take them on from the front. He did not do a lot wrong at Pontefract and is worth another look in the market. He may have fellow trailblazer, Thornaby Green there for company. The Mighty Ogmore has ability but is unreliable. Dechiper has ran well at this track previously and might be worth another look should the market speak in her favour. Danalova is improving albeit off a very modest base figure. Rotuma is at least proven on course, distance and ground and is offered the most tentative of nods.
