In depth

Verdict

This is a poor race by anybody's standards and one that will not provide the handicapper with too many headaches. However, something has to win and a chance is taken the low draw can play to the strengths of H Harrison and the three-year-old is preferred over Playful Dane, Old Bailey and Irma La Douche, who are taken to fight it out for the minors today. The selection, a one-time inmate of Alan Berry's, has been holding his own in much better races than this of late and will appreciate the ease in grade for now. Luke Fletcher takes a handy 5lb off his back and the partnership may just be able to slip their field if they allowed an uncontested lead. Flying Tackle appeals out of the remainder and he is a potential spoiler for the selection. Michael Dodds will be keen for his charge to gain some compensation for the stewards' error that cost him a valuable place at the last meeting here and the gelding is ideally placed to give H Harrison plenty to think about throughout the race.
