Verdict

PUY D'ARNAC is the form horse in the race and is taken to land his hat-trick at the expense of Outland and Simonside. The selection has landed back to back victories at Musselburgh and Catterick and as a consequence is now ten pounds higher in the weights. He had slipped down the ratings throughout the summer while being winless and took advantage of that after being well backed last time out. He still looks fairly treated and if running up to his best he will not be far away come the business end of the race. Outland broke his maiden tag at Yarmouth in June and has since run with credit in defeat. He ran true to form last time out when finishing second to Simple Jim and another bold can be expected. Simonside has more experience than most and has been running with credit of late. He won an amateur riders contest at Carlisle back in July and has lost nothing in defeat since so he is another to add to the short list. Puy d'Arnac is in great form of late and can defy a ten pound rise in the weights.
