In depth

Verdict

This is a race that lacks any real strength in depth and Spider Power looks to have been found a suitable opportunity to open his account and is taken to do so, with the newcomers Stepping Up and Secret Liaison rated the main dangers. The selection has improved with each start and a reproduction of his latest effort at Windsor should suffice. David Barron's Sea Salt has shown promise in two starts but may prefer a softer surface, while Jeremy Noseda's Chanteuse Noire probably needs to improve to trouble the judge. Mark Johnston's Soviet Star colt Stepping Up and Sir Mark Prescott's son of Medicean Secret Liaison both warrant respect first time out but Spider Power sets a decent standard and gets the vote.
