Verdict

Sky Falcon seems sure to be involved while Nicola's Dream is capable of better, but after an impressive victory at Wolverhampton WATER ICE deserves our vote. Tom Dascombe's filly pounced with a furlong to go at Dunstall Park to record a comfortable three-length success on her handicap debut, seemingly improving for the step up in trip. Of course there has to be a concern that she reverts back to turf here but we're hopeful the penny has dropped and if she can repeat the effort she'll be tough to beat under a penalty. Sky Falcon represents an operation whose juveniles seem to be coming to hand and he showed a likeable attitude at Leicester. The second, beaten a neck, has taken the same position in a nursery off 74 so there's surely every chance that this American-bred can put in a similar display off a pound higher, especially with further progress likely. Nicola's Dream is hard to assess as she was disappointing last time but her rating of 67 seems to reflect that and if she's back in the same form as when fourth to a better-fancied stable companion in June a big run is likely. Market Maker showed improved form at Beverley and is now tried blinkers but perhaps he'd want it soft, in contrast to Eland Ally who seemed to resent rain-softened conditions last time and is of interest now handicapping at a track he knows. Peppercorn Rent looks the yard's second-string and needs to improve on his recent winning form while Bradbury's latest second hasn't worked out despite looking good at the time. As is often the case it should pay to focus on the head of the weights in this nursery, with Water Ice just preferred.
